Balyage hilites are french hair painting

April 15, 2011 By: manager Category: Blonde Hair Colors, blonde hilites, french haircutting, hilites

Balyage is another word for hilites in French. I learned how to do the french hair

painting years ago when we flew in this French hair stylist from France. He had

trained alongside Fredrick Fekkai whom is from New  York City. Anyway, this

guy was so talented and detailed in his training that I learned so much that weekend.

He was worth every penny to learn the art of how to paint the hair. It’s not like

just blobbing the color from the scalp to the ends, it’s about a feeling that while

painting it, you are looking at where the light will shine onto the hair and how the

color chosen will illuminate the actual hair strand when the light hits it or the

appearance of the light hitting the hair. This is one of my favorite ways to color

hair. this technique looks incredible on blonde hair. Light blonde, dark blonde,

any blonde looks fabulous in this painted way. We also have done the peek-a-boo

technique that that allows the color to peek through when you lean over or the

hair blows in the breeze like at the beach. This is the best technique of hiliting

that will grow out naturally if you want that beach look. It takes a skilled stylist

to pull this off. Try it some time.
